Black Mould In Shower

How do I get rid of black mould in a shower? Was thinking maybe vinegar and bicarb or something??

Its a pain in the rear isn't it. I can't keep our bath clean for love nor money.

I've gone back to Flash Bathroom Spray, not OS but it does seem to help abit.

The grouting can sort of be cleaned with an old toothbrush and bleach or trainer whitner isn't too bad and lasts abit.

  • The best way we have found is to mix a bit of bicarb with bleach to form a paste, then use a toothbrush. Lasts about 8 weeks.

Had a horrible mouldy bathroom in a rented house a few years back and found scrubbing it with bleach diluted in a lot of hot water once a week seemed to keep off the worst of it-HTH!
  • I know it's not money saving (sorry) but Dettols mould and mildew spray is simply amazing. You spray it, leave it for a few minutes and and simply drips off. It really is amazing. It's not the cheapest spray though. It comes in a green bottle.

  • The really big Supermarkets do stock it, but it does take a bit of hunting around the aisles. It is difficult to find as there are normally only ever one strip of a few bottles.

However, try B&Q or Homebase, you will have a better chance of finding it there.

Let us know how you get on?

In Poundland, I got some Cuprinol Mould Killer. It's quite a big bottle, too. You can dilute it (it tells you the mix on the back) however I 'painted' it neat onto my kitchen wall which was riddled with mould and it worked a treat. I even used it neat on part of my wallpaper in the front room and it really worked. Well worth it for £1, and Cuprinol is a decent brand.

equal ammounts of bicarb and bleach mixed together, paint on with a paint brush and leave for 1-2 hours (depending on severity of mould) wash off - if job not complete you can allways repeat. mould treatment is expensive and stinks!!!!
