It makes keeping old credit cards active a little more expensive.
Email from Amazon this afternoon;

Why not just cycle cards around & use one a month?Life in the slow lane0

I top up £1 a month via credit card in order to create a direct debit for Barclays Blue rewards.
Oh hang, I can cancel that now.
I probably do (or could) spend £60 a year at Amazon though if I still needed it for a direct debit.Debt Free: 01/01/20200 -
I did not receive any notification from Amazon and my monthly top up still shows £1.
I will have to wait until later in the month to see what happens.1 -

The other cards I have a just older cards than can be used for BT offers or spending abroad, so I use don't carry them with me or know the PIN from memory. So using them on Amazon for a £1 top up was useful to keep them ticking over, also so I because I have Direct Debts set up, which you know are useful for banks that require them for rewards/switches.0 -
I used to top mine up with £1pm from my Tesco Credit Card, and Tesco Bank would kindly write that off each month, meaning I could earn a huge £12pa
Seriously though, as I never used it as a means to have an active DD each month, it's no major concern for me and let's be honest, not a lot you can genuinely buy on Amazon for a quid, is there0 -

Interesting thread. Thanks for flagging it up.I had never thought of using a Direct Debit to top up my gift card via my Amazon account payment credit card - I need another DD on a Santander current account so I attempted setting one up for £5 monthly.Rejected - the minimum amount needs to be over a fiver, so I tried £5.01 - and it worked apparently !!!I purchase a Kindle book roughly once per month, so this seems a convenient deal.0
