Winter Fuel Payments

Good Afternoon,

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place I’m not great at working these things out.

I am trying to get a bit of clarity on Winter Fuel Payments; under the new rules my husband will no longer receive this payment. I receive PIP, it says on the Government website people receiving PIP are entitled to this payment however on other sites there appears to be different info.

Just wondering if anyone here can provide any clarification on this.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you

I would suspect until full details are published on Gov.uk, nobody is going to really know. But if thats what Gov.uk says, and its dated the last few days, surely that should be confirmation enough.

The .gov pages still seem to be on winter 23-24 so a bit up in the air.  The changes announced also only apply to England and Wales at the moment.

PIP is not a means-tested Benefit so unlikely to be one of those Benefits that may give entitlement to the WFP anyway.

Did you receive it last year or just your husband?
I thinkthe exact details are still to be clarified, so things may become clear in due course, or change.

I suspect if in doubt then it won't be received.

Massive cutbacks as they have to find the money to nationalise the railway for one (and many more projects promised)

Stealth tax on pension contributions,CGT and inheritance.

I have no doubt it would be a similar picture whoever was in charge with regards stealth tax

I also think the carte blanched winter fuel payment was misappropriated money with many buying their wine and flights away with it.

    So it's not all bad

And also quite a few better off pensioners gave the WFP to charities - so those organisations will certainly lose out !
