Maternity Pay

I've been self-employed for 20 years, paid all my taxes and was eligible for Statutory Maternity Allowance, but for the last year before my maternity leave I was also employed one day a week. Through this employment I'm was eligible for Statutory Maternity Pay, which my employer legally had to to pay me - and did.
Unfortunately, this SMP (90% of my one day a week earnings) was less than the SMA I could have received by £50 a week - so over the 39 weeks I'm approximately £2000 out of pocket, of money I have worked to be entitled to - does anyone know if there's anything I can do to reclaim it?
TIA
