Our son had his first UC callcwith a job coach today. I am his DWP appointee and the lady didn't ask to speak to him. She said he won't have work search commitments and they will call me occasionally, just to see how he is. 
She didn't say anything about limited capacity pay. How will I know if he will get the extra amount or not?

He will have to have an assessment (whether that's paper-based or with an appointment). 

Have you reported his health condition(s) with a fit note?  If so, after 28 days the work coach should refer for a WCA, you'll then get a form to fill in and return, kind of like PIP or DLA but all about how his ability to do work activities is affected.
