Access blocked by neighbour

Hi everyone
I have recently bought a property and get the keys Friday, but my neighbour is blocking my gate into my garden/house.
I have attached a photo. The silver car belongs to the house left and behind and has parking for at least three cars. My gate and only access to my house (one with solar panels) is beside the silver car, so i can not walk past it. The people in this house do own the area (previous owner bought the land off the council) on which the car is parked, but there is an easement on this land, and states on my deeds I am allowed to park there, infact my deeds say upto two cars, as long as I do not block their gate, which is infact behind the silver car and I have a right over the land to access my property.
The owners of this land are very aggressive, and when I said I have a right of access, they said "we will see about that". And now they deliberately blocking my gate.
The police say this is a civil matter, unless I am worried about my safety.
Is what they are doing illegal ?
Has anyone got any words of wisdom ?
I don't want to fall out with neighbours, but from their actions so far, I think I will be.
So how do I politely tell them to stop it ?
Any advise greatly appreciated

If you have just completed on the purchase, maybe your solicitor/conveyancer is the place to start.3

Or an injunction to stop them in their tracks
Quick doesn't cost a lot and fairly straight forward.
Write to them tell them if they block your access again you will seek an immediate injunction
This you can do yourself. The court fee is a few hundred
All I'll say is act rather then talk about it to nip it in the bud

You know what your deeds say, have you checked what theirs say?The police are right, it is a civil matter unless there is likely to be a breach of the peace, or similar,All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
HiYes I do. That in 1985 the previous owners bought the land from the local council and subject to easements and privileges which may affect the land.I'd like to baffle them with my brilliance, with legal jargon.1
