drain cover

Options
Hi All,

I wanted to get a cover for this exterior drain at the front of my house. It gets clogged up with leaves from the trees on the street and I thought one of the plastic covers that are available online would do the job... but they are made for a drain without the border mine has, and just for one pipe leading to it, so aren't going to work.

Any ideas of an alternative that would work? Or any advice on the best way to DIY it?

Thanks!

I used a 24/12 fibre roofing slate for mine. Easy to cut out pieces to make it fit round the pipes.

When my outside drain was getting filled with leaves, I just bundled some chicken wire until it was higher than the surrounding surface so the leaves fell off rather than gathering. If I were you, I'd buy a plastic box that fits around the border, then cut out slots for your pipes. If it gets sun, maybe a square plastic plant pot as these have better UV protection.

Or cut a notch out of that wood and lay it over the border stone with something to weigh it down.

  • The previous house owner used a few decking boards and made it - worked well and also meant I could put plant pots on top of it.

Not my wood - that's my neighbours - but good idea!
