Don't CCJs stay on your credit record for 6 years after they have been satisfied? That could explain it...also are you on the electoral roll? That seems to make a big difference, also having a landline number rather than a mobile phone number, for some reason.

The reason is 'stability'. It shows you've put down roots.

CCJ's stay on for 6 years. This is prob you biggest problem....

Cap1 Card is a known sub prime card also with a £200 limit stands out as dodgy. Alot of lenders will notice this...

How many past searches have you made say in the last 6 months?

I think you have a steep hill to climb to get a decent apr.......)-:

Whilst a new lender will see a £200 credit limit from the search, they will not see the lenders name attributed to that card.

No, since that will work to help to re-establish your credit rating so that once your CCJ drops off (or sooner if you want to try an application after, say, 3 years) you will have a better chance of acceptance for a 'mainstream' card.

BTW, why on earth are you carrying such a low interest charging balance on a 29.9% APR card. Get rid of it! This card can be used to improve your credit rating by spending as little as £5 per month on it...provided you make a payment on time each month.

Ah, thanks-I thought it was, but got turned down for a Barclaycard a few months back as I didn't have a landline, so the application was refused as 'paperwork incomplete'-seemed a bit odd as I had a mortgage on the flat, which I would have thought showed more stability than a phone line :rotfl:

All these stability factors (landline, mortgage/own home, time in job, time at address, time with bank, married, children) go into the credit score mix. You may have been borderline, and the lack of a landline swung it the wrong way for you.

Thanks, I will bear it in mind if I think I can ever trust myself with a credit card again!
