Daughters Car Insurance

My Daughter passed her Driving Test Yesterday and I am looking at getting her some cover for my car.  I only need 5 weeks cover as she is heading of to Uni in September.

My current insurance provider has come back and said they can't help me out, either on my current policy or trying to find another policy with someone else (they are a broker).  I checked for temporay cover and got quoted £2000(!) for 58 days cover, which I am of course not paying.

Are there any other possible options I can look into?   Sorry not an exper on this sort of thing.

Any help greatly appreciate!

There are temp covers especially for young drivers, unclear if your £2k quote was from them or a more generic temp cover provider. Short term insurance is always much more expensive proportionally than annual.

Your other option is to look at cancelling your current policy and buy another policy elsewhere. So get quotes online for a new annual policy with her as a named driver but remember to factor in the cancellation costs before buying the new policy if it comes out more acceptable.

After then 5 weeks it would be up to you if to remove them or leave them on for when they return between terms etc.
