Outfox the Market taking more despite smart meter

I was looking through their T&Cs specifically for any mention of the type of DD they operated and there was no mention of “fixed” or “variable” DD! They just state their current plans and the stipulation that each plan must be paid by DD.bob2302 said: I'd be very surprized if they meant that the default is a variable DD. I think you almost certainly misread it, if you drew that conclusion. Possibly they meant that a fixed tariff doesn't force you to use a fixed DD.
Their basic standard tariff does not stipulate a payment method though.
There is an overall absence of details for fixed/variable DD options which is what I was trying to find.0 -
Outfox the Market operate using a fixed direct debit option.
As far as I am aware they do not offer a variable direct debit option.
We have been with them for almost four years now and have found their direct debit calculations to be fairly accurate building up credit in the summer months and using that over the winter months. Come May when our 12 monthly billing period ends we are usually close to a balance.0 -

As far as I am aware they do not offer a variable direct debit option. So it seems. They did offer me variable when I complained but, this was only by switching to their highest tariff. I'm obviously not the type of customer they're marketing towards which is no problem, because I won't be a customer for much longer.I guess it makes sense as they are one of the smaller operators and it would not be cost effective to serve a handful of customers who don't need to build up a surplus. Obviously too much admin to offer variable DD on their various competitive tariffs, which I totally understand.0 -
British Gas are one of the biggest but they don't offer variable DD either.thedrumdoctor said:RelievedSheff said:Outfox the Market operate using a fixed direct debit option.

Jeeezzz....it's a variable DD lottery then!Alnat1 said:British Gas are one of the biggest but they don't offer variable DD either.
It would be nice to see fixed and variable DD options on comparison sites (or maybe I haven't looked properly).

IIRC they used to, before changing their billing system.Alnat1 said:

Seems bizarre to have taken a step backwards, really.1 -
Comparison sites are based on how much it's going to cost, not when it's paidthedrumdoctor said:

If you have a friend with EDF then until 4th August if they give you a referral code that you take up you will get the £50 fee but they will get £75.
Now I need to encourage a few more people I know to switch! Just 3 such referrals could make up for losing my WFA this year.0
