Best option to finance £4,000?
Options
I need some drainage work doing in my field and today was quoted £6,000. I only have available £2,000. What's the best way to finance the rest? I know - save up - but it has to be done before this winter.
I don't have any current debt, no mortgage, loans or cc.

a bank loan? or do you have any credit cards that have any money transfer deals available? best would be a 0% one but there are others where the interest rate might be less than a loan and allow you more time to pay. Note - if you go down that route make sure there's no other spending at all on the card.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I agree with the previous poster, either a traditional personal loan or a Money Transfer card. I'm guessing it's likely that whoever does the work won't accept payment by credit card, which would rule out a 0% purchase card. The thing you need to watch out for if paying by card (of whichever type) is that the promotional period is usually relatively short-lived (typically between 12 and 24 months). You may be able to transfer any remaining balance to another 0% card when the promotional period expires - but there's no guarantee. You therefore need to have money put aside to repay the full balance when the time comes.0
