I was looking at buying Norton Advanced anti virus for my PC. Norton themselves wanted twice as much to purchase through them than buying from Amazon which is half the price.
Norton's reason for this was that the 'shop bought Norton Advanced' product does not contain as many features as the one bought direct from Norton.
Is this correct? They don't make it easy for you!

To be honest, since the roll out of Windows Defender I assumed most of these personal security products would disappear.

I have a particularly bad memory of Norton from using it in the past. It was the epitome of the paradox of security software - .g. you use security software so you don't get malware that slows your computer down, but installing security software slows your computer down (obviously this is a rather vacuous take on it, because security is about more than just performance, but you get the point).

I get it's not the question you asked, but I would think about twice about whether you need it.
    Know what you don't
  • If you really want to use Norton then this is a good deal. You can buy Norton 360 Premium 2024 from here for £19.99 which gives you 2 years and 10 devices:

Sorry! Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours!

as @returnofghandi says - I don't see the point in these products anymore - unless you are using a non-windows ( or very old windows ) OS.

If you have Windows 10 or 11 you do not need to buy anti virus software.  Windows has perfectly good anti virus built in.
