  • Paid insurance for theatre tickets and took insurance. Husband now seriously ill following Covid with cardiac issues . Do not have any medical,letters yet , but submitted ambulance form with details of admission. Claims it is not enough and now demands doctors certificate with medical details..data protection?

    Insurer is correct.  Give them what they want when you have them.  Insurers follow the data protection laws.  So, no problems there.

    What do you mean "data protection"? As in you cannot get the evidence because it's your husband's details and his doctors won't give it to you without his consent? 

    If your husband is too ill to consent is an insurance claim really the top priority? Hopefully he gets better soon so can then consent to the records being released. Ultimately if the worst happens then data protection ceases to apply as it only protects living persons.
