Activating New Day credit card

An elderly relative has been sent a new credit card after their old card was blocked (possibly they'd lost it, not sure).  The card has come with instructions to "activate" it by logging into the online account.  My relative does not use online banking and does not have a smartphone so is therefore struggling to work out how to use their new credit card.  The credit card is from John Lewis but the actual provider is New Day.

Can anyone help with clues how to activate the card to save me having to drive a long distance to help them?  Or do we need to find a new credit card provider that does not require the use of an online account?  If such a thing even exists?

    You can usually also call a number to activate cards.  If they can't and they don't use online services they may need to consider a different card,

    They did call a number and spoke to an actual person, who seems to have just confused them further telling them to access something on their phone, which not having a smartphone they couldn't.

    It's very difficult, any part of this could be based on a mix up or sheer awkward-cussedness.  Thanks - I think it'll have to be a visit.

    You should be able to help her remotely rather than having to visit.

    Phone her and set up an online account for her on your computer and/or smart phone, using the card details that she reads to you over the phone, and then activate the card for her.

    She would of course need to fully trust you but no more than if you visit her.

    I manage all the finances for my wife and I and I set up her online banking and credit card accounts etc for her.
    A man walked into a car showroom.
