Learners Insurance

Options
My daughter turns 17in a couple of weeks. Want to get an early quote for learners insurance. Have used the MSE tool for compaison which takes me to the Money SuperMarket comparison site. Sadly wont let me get the quote until she is 17. Was hoping to get insurance early (as MSE always tell us not to leave it too late to beat the algorithyms!).
Would welcome any suggestions or tips.
Thanks in advance!

Simply use a different name and DOB?

Learner insurance is not like normal insurance not many specialise in this market.  Save a lot of hassle and just go to Collingwood assuming the car is in her name.  Otherwise probably easier just to add her to yours.

If you are wanting to cover her on a car already insured for someone else check out Marmalade.

We used it for learner insurance for our daughter and cover for three months cost about £1 a day.

I second Collingwood if her own car. Very reasonable learners insurance but, as with all learners insurance it only covers learners. As soon as they pass their test you need to get a different policy. Collingwood does insure whoever accompanied the learner to the test to drive home afterwards (the young person would no longer be insured as they are no longer a learner!)

Collingwood wasn't the cheapest (or best coverage) for our daughter when she was a learner in her own car. In her case it was Sterling as part of the Herts Insurance group.

As with all things, find the best for your individual circumstances based on price and quality of cover.

It was one of the policies that as above would not carry over to when she passed, so it had to be cancelled and a new policy taken up for a full license holder policy. Some do allow a mid term adjustment to continue cover.

Good luck on both finding insurance and with getting through the lessons and test.
