Right, apologies, life and health got in the way and I was later than I wanted to be sending them the letter and today got this back

Tempted to write a letter to yorkshire bank who sold the debt and copy cabot in basically stating to either prove they sold it to them or drop it (and post it on twitter as an open letter) I presume though the advice is simply stop paying and walk away?

Their response is pretty typical - say it's uneforcable as that's the legal position but say things to try and make you pay it. I'd just ignore it completely now, there's no sense in drawing attention to something that could potentially be fixed.

So, they are basically saying they cant prove the debt but I do apparantly owe it? So whats the recommended next step? Stop paying as they cannot prove seems logical, are they likely to be spiteful about this in some way? Tell Cabot you will not be paying them while the debt is unenforceable.
Dont contact Yorkshire Bank, you do not want them involved. Cabot have to produce the CCA.
