Best weedkiller product for perennial weeds?

Thanks for all replies.
We have treated the area outside the fence boundary with a glyphosate weed killer.
The area treated is a strip about 6 to 9 ins wide, the weed killer is working well, also due to the height and density of the grass and weeds in the outside fence area  you cannot see anything.
The whole area is a complete waste land, too dense and high for children to play in, it just accumulates rubbish, in short a horrible sight.

Ah, but think of the 'wildlife value,' and the personal enrichment clearing all that debris will provide local children in their holidays!
