Is it possible that the Dealer is constrained by the terms of their franchise agreement with BMW to only sell to a defined geographical area?

You can be as annoyed as you want, but no organisation has to do business with you if they don't wish to, as long as their reasons for not doing so don't break discrimination laws.
What further action do you think you can take against the dealership?
I do not like to be told I am different from the next man in the street just because of my postcode ... If this is indeed classed as discrimination, they most certainly do not have the right to refuse my business,
The sense of entitlement pervading society these days is palpable and I fear one day it will all end in tears.
You are different from the next man because of your postcode and you just need to get over it. I have similar issues; I live in rural mid-Wales and, for example, supermarkets will not deliver discounted alcohol to my postcode because of Welsh minimum pricing laws. Similarly some online retailers outright reject my order for bulky goods as soon as I enter my address. Do I have a tantrum when this happens? No, I just accept it's a price worth paying for living in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.
As has been said, yes of course it's discrimination but it's perfectly legal and they most certainly DO have the right to refuse your business.

The bottom line is they don't want your business, so take it elsewhere.
It's a loss to them and a bit of an inconvenience to you.
TBH, buying a car from a dealer too far away could cause problems if anything goes wrong; I've had several cars which have needed to got back to the dealer multiple times.

Exactly as not everything drops under warranty.

If it’s a brand new car though, the chances of something going wrong that wouldn’t be covered by warranty seem small though. I’ve no issue with buying a brand new car from far away but wouldn’t do the same for a second hand one.

I understand where the OP is coming from as we now can’t get so much stuff in Northern Ireland (I used to buy bedding plants and seeds for the garden but can’t get them now either and nobody sells what I want locally). But there is no point getting angry about it on here and there is nothing anyone here can do about it. It will only change if those in Westminster and the EU want it to change.

Just out of interest, have you tried getting a quote from a dealer in the Irish Republic?

Don't think the OP would be interested in a left-hand drive car...

A major factor in their policy making you would think. A complete waste of time and money for all concerned.

OP - have you gone to Bavarian/Country Garage/JKC/Prentice with the price of the car you've found?  They'll not  match it, but might drop their price to get your business.

I'm in NI as well, and bought a BMW from Prentice - I found them to be better for prices that Bavarian or Country Garage, but that was a few years ago.
