Does anybody know whether Nationwide has a roll number or reference for their current account? Thanks

So far as I know no current accounts in the UK use roll numbers any more. It's an old fashioned thing which dates back to when building societies offered current accounts but didn't have sort codes of their own.cherry76 said:It’s just the forms I was filling asked for one. Thanks1 -
Just leave it blank. For this field usually the instructions on how to fill in the form will say something along the lines of, 'if relevant.'cherry76 said:It’s just the forms I was filling asked for one. Thanks
Login to your NW current account and look for the account number. You won't find a roll number but if you have a savings account when you look at that you might see one but not all NW savings accounts have them either.1 -
Roll numbers I was told in the past were for credit unions' old passbook current accounts. Like you, I was unsure so had to visit a branch. I was told to leave it blank. Hope it helps!0

NBS do have a 10 digit Customer Number, maybe that's what they want?0

Think that's just for identification when using online or telephone banking, not all NBS customers would have one.ThePirates said:NBS do have a 10 digit Customer Number, maybe that's what they want?0 -
A customer number is not a roll number. In this case you could probably put anything you like as the reference and it wouldn’t matter, these current accounts only have a sort code and account number.ThePirates said:NBS do have a 10 digit Customer Number, maybe that's what they want?1 -
Roll numbers are used to differentiate customer accounts which are administered under a shared account number/sort code.
They are not used for new current accounts but based on experience are still used for a small number of accounts.1
