Post accident purchases

I was involved in an accident while on holiday, which left me with a thoracic trauma.  I will shortly have chest reconstructive chest surgery and will need approximately four months to recover. I am unable to lift even moderately heavy things and have bought a few things to make life easier, such as an air fryer (can’t use the oven), a lightweight hair dryer, grocery delivery service, dog walker, taxis, etc. After the operation, I will also need someone to clean for me etc.  Can I claim these expenses back?

Was the accident caused by somebody else, and/or are you claiming for the injuries on their or your own insurance.  If you are claiming against 3rd party it doesn't seem unreasonable to claim for the additional costs.

If claiming on travel insurance or something similar the policy terms will define what you can claim for. Travel insurance would usually cover emergency medical expenses, repatriation costs, and some incidental costs like the cost of someone staying out there with you while you were in hospital - but probably not ongoing expenses after you were back home or compensation for long term changes in your lifestyle

If you mean that the accident was someone else's fault and you are making a negligence claim against them or their insurers (or the equivalent under the law of the country where it happened) then the list of things that you can claim for is potentially much broader - but it would depend on the legal system under which you are claiming (asking other things).
