Incorrect Income but want to put it right

Options
Hi all,

I stupidly as I wasn’t paying attention made my salary 1.5% higher than what I actually earn on a balance transfer credit card, I only noticed when I had the epiphany when I had to prove my income on another application (I put the right income in), I do not want to come across as a fraudulent applicant, what would you suggest, I want to contact the card issuer (Barclaycard) and correct this, as I don’t want any CIFAS, but I also do not want to open up a can of worms.

  • The card which is 1.5% increase in salary has been accepted and so have transfers I have had this now for a few weeks, please note, but I want to put things right. This was not deliberate at all in trying to get a higher credit limit if that would have been the case I would have inflated the salary way more, apologies I am quite an anxious individual

Not sure that an innocent error of such a low magnitude will have any bearing whatsoever.

You have no sound reason for your anxiety on this occasion.

Would you update your card issuer if you had a (below inflation) pay rise of 1.5%?

I'd leave it, you'll probably get a pay rise at some point which would move you up by more than 1.5%.

If it is a 1.5% difference forget about it.

If you actually mean the figure you applied with is 1.5 times your actual salary then keep quiet about it but ensure you pay it off on time and don't reapply with Barclaycard with incorrect figures again.

I want to put it right and have no wiggle room for any thought of fraud, so plain and simple I put 29XXX, rather than 29XXX a £460 difference and similar issue with monthly £17XX , £17XX about a £30 difference

Absolutely nothing  to worry about! Who knows? You could receive a bonus or a 1.5% pay rise?

There is NO attempt at fraud here!

Thanks for your reply, what do you mean I have no sound reason for my anxiety on this occasion? I do not want to get done for fraud, I made a mistake and I am worrying of this, I probably got in my head reading of application fraud etc, this is by no means me upset by your statement I am only stating facts.

It's the weekend, have a barbecue, a takeaway curry and a bottle of whatever takes your fancy, all within your budget of course and put Barclaycard out of your thoughts.
  • Definitey not fraud - a minor mistake at most, and I don’t think it’s even that.
I’ve applied for many credit cards over the years.  I’ve always rounded up or down to the nearest thousand.
the bank will do their own checks and as long as what you’ve written is close enough (by their standards which are unknown to us) to what you’ve entered you’ll be fine.
They are clearly happy otherwise they wouldn’t have given you the card.

In all fairness, I naturally wouldn’t as I wouldn’t remember to as the application has been accepted. It would be last thing on my mind, it’s just I applied for another one which has been accepted but I had to prove income, when I had the epiphany of this and how my application details will be shared as a fraud prevention method, I do understand I may all well be in my head of this, I just wanted to make it clear to Barclaycard I am in no way trying to cause deceit whether small or big.
