Yesterday the weather dithered between lovely and atrocious without settling for one or the other. I did a variety of little jobs including tackling the pile of documents which I've been ignoring for weeks which needed personal details torn off. After more stuff was removed from the utility room counter it's looking so much better, no more clutter. In the morning I phoned my surgery and a GP called me in the afternoon. She explained that my MRI scan will have gone to the physio department as the request for it had come from them. By then it was too late to contact the physios so that's a job for Monday. Meanwhile she prescribed some analgesics for me so I went out to collect the script and got it filled. Last night I was so much more comfortable in bed.During the day I booked tickets to see a couple of comedians, one in Glasgow next year and one in Hexham in late summer. I like something to look forward to.Of course, Friday ended well with the good news about DP1's little one. 🎉 Then the opening ceremony was so underwhelming and disappointing until the final half hour. I felt so sorry for all the soggy athletes.Saturday is inviting, to what I don't know yet. I hope that everyone is doing well and that our poorlies are improving.13

Morning allThanks for the start Gers. I agree with the word underwhelming, the beginning with the French flag in fireworks across the bridge was amazing and the last half hour too but the middle 3 hours was a waste of time and those poor performers getting soaked was such a shame.Nothing going on here today except a chocolate cake being made and I'll probably dip in and out of whatever Olympic sport is going on.Was lovely to read back from yesterday re DP1's little 'un. Brilliant news.Have a good day everyone x12

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's raining here, not cold though.
Dp1, I'm so pleased to hear that the little one's brain scan is clear, and she's no worse. What a week it's been for you and dd, you'll be exhausted.
Sorry to read that Mrs M is in hospital Mehefin, hope you get some positive news soon.
Hope you have a nice little break TA, it's good to have a change of surroundings.
I can't believe how quickly this year is slipping away, nearly at the end of July already. Soon there'll be cards in the shops to celebrate that festival near the end of the year, you know, the one where a white bearded man in a red robe comes on a sleigh and leaves us all presents. I don't want to say the word in case you all pile on me. It does seem to start by the end of August though.
Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of the poorly ones, take care folks.13 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Blue sky and sun just now but they say it will rain later. Then, whoop whoop, they are promising it will be sunny and warm until Thursday!
I am all packed - food, wine, clothes, books - so I am ready for off when DS comes to ferry me up to Nidderdale. I will keep abreast of all your news on my phone but can't promise much in the way of news back thanks to sausage fingers!
I thought it was me that was underwhelmed last night. The torch passing to and fro before it got to its destination seemed to go on forever.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Fingers crossed DP1's DGD continues to make good progress. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
The opening ceremony wasn't a patch on London 2012, there was no stadium for the focus and why were Rafa, Serena, Carl & Nadia involved in the flame relay? 🤷♀️

Morning All
Great news about the little one dp1, hope today brings more good news.
After a morning of heavy showers it cleared to quite a nice afternoon so some digging was done. It'll be a long slog to get the plot into some sort of shape but little and often is the way to go I think. I've bought some late potatoes to put in and I may get that done today, depending on when the little one arrives for a sleepover.
DD and I were going to the little food pantry yesterday but her new van wouldn't start, all credit to the garage she bought it from, they came along immediately, got it started and took it away. She has a courtesy car for now but may get it back today. We had to move the little one's seat into my car and set off, got stuck in terrible traffic due to roadworks so it was not a happy morning! At least she was at home and not stuck at the side of the road somewhere.
Hoping for some good weather today so I can get some washing done, the bed can be changed tomorrow once the little one has been.
Nanny - I thought the best person won on the Sewing Bee too.
I gave up watching the opening of the Olympics too - very underwhelming!
Hope you are all well and have a good weekend. Take care. XX8 -
Hi everyone,
I agree totally about the opening ceremony, the flame is spectacular and Celine Dion was incredible and I loved the light show from the Eiffel Tower but could have binned the rest.
Our quiet week is nearly over, the family are back tomorrow and I can't wait to see them. I still want to sort my storage cupboard out though and try to find places for things that are just dumped on the window ledge because they are too complicated for everyone else to put away (ie they are too lazy), does anyone else have this problem. Sometimes it's just that we've used the good crockery and they can't be bothered to walk the few steps to the dining room to the cupboard there so it's left for me!
Time to go, I have the sleeves to set in my blouse and then the buttons and buttonholes to do, wish me luck.
PS still thinking of Mehefin and his DW and little one and family.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning all, I'm up early as Dad has an early morning slot (4hrs) for his f/freezer delivery. As it stands it's 5 stops away so we'll go up in a minute to deliver his shopping then wait for the van. I've already put the clean dried washing away from yesterday and I'm having a fortifying coffee before we go.
Another who was bored and underwhelmed with the opening ceremony, in fact I turned it off way before the end. I hope none of the athletes catch a cold.
All the shopping was p&c yesterday but I still have to put the store cupboard items away, that's a job for this afternoon. May also dip in and out of the Olympics throughout the day.
Hope all the poorly ones feel better today.
Bella lovely to see you posting again. Please keep in touch.
Take care all

dp1, great news, hope she continues in that vein...mehefin, not great news, fingers crossed for her...have the son and poisoner been to see her? snoozer, good luck with the sleeves! bella, nice to see you briefly
Gers, I find that too, but it seems this year has been a year of waiting and then rushing appointments. I normally book the comedians in January to give us something to look forward to
OH is off to Turkey with a mate in October and I'm going to see !!!!!! and Angel..not equitable for sure
TA, enjoy your break.. camelot, that's a lot fo work to be taking on, potatoes, that's all I can say or green manure...field beans?
So I've been in wales all week, decluttering there. I decluttered 20 bags of clothes, 5 black bags of rag, 2 bags of shoes, a few bags of couldn't be donated stff, so that's two wardrobes and four drawers empty. I also decluttered a large amount of weeds from both houses, my sister now has a path to cut the roses back. And we had chats. What transpires out of those chats remains to be seen. Building work starts proper on Monday, the garage roof has gone, the cats still hate us because there's nowhere to sit outside now. And I've booked to see Deadpool tomorrow..Take care all, enjoy the sun if you have it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -
