Capita Data Breach

HI,
I have been subject to the data breach but I was an employee, so a huge amount of data has bene exposed. Is anyone else in the same position?

The no win-no fee solicitors are rather 'vulture-like' has anyone engaged with Capita directly on this?

Thank you

  • What are your losses here?

The data breach, as far as I can see, was in March 2023. Has anyone done anything with your details since then?

Whilst not exactly nice, having one's details exposed is not a particularly big deal if nothing is done with the data. And personal data tends to get stale very quickly.

So, how were your compromised details used?

What are you actually asking? Do you mean can you get free money from Capita for their breach? A no win no fee solicitor taking on some sort of group action might be the only option if there was no general compensation agreement agreed after. There was one breach in the last 12 months where they only had to provide a 12 month free subscription to a CRA data protection policy, no mention of free cash.

What were your material, demonstrable, losses?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

As to be expected.  They are the bottom feeders of the legal world.
