Repeat Eligibility Checks

A couple of months ago I did the Santander Edge credit card eligibility check (the 2% cashback is tempting) and the result said "Good News, you're less than likely to be accepted" which made me laugh. I did not go ahead with an application, but I'm tempted to try the eligibility checker again now just to see if the result is different. Is there a sensible amount of time to wait between doing such checks, is two months alright or might it look too keen? I think a couple of hard searches have fallen off my file since the last check, which might make a difference.

If they are soft searches, rather than applying, with a credit check, you'll probably be ok

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Yes it's soft searches for an indication of likely outcome of a full application (which would be a hard search). Might give it another go...

You can use Santander's eligibility checker once every 30 days:

This is what happens if you use it before 30 days:

    It’s too soon…

We can’t check your eligibility right now, Title Surname.

You can only use the eligibility checker once every 30 days. You’ve used it recently, so you need to wait xx days before you can use it again.

You can apply for a credit card now if you want to, but if we decline your application it will be recorded on your credit file. The eligibility checker gives you an idea of how likely we are to accept your application. Waiting for the 30 days and using it before you apply could give you peace of mind.

You missed out on the extra £18 cash back
Watch out for the quasi-cash payments which don't qualify
