What about a VW Up GTi.
You'll get some change out of your 15K, look after it and treat it right and it'll never loose you a lot of money.

I was never a big fan of the original 60hp version. The packaging was really good for such a small car, but the drive was a bit dire and the gearbox really lashy.

The GTi (and the 90PS TSi engined versions to a slightly lesser extent) is far better and a real riot to drive.
Not a million miles away from your old school Gti's of the late 80's and early 90's.

I did nearly buy a UP GTi but instead bought an Abarth 595 Turismo 165.
As an everyday car it was pretty terrible, poor mpg made worse by a tiny fuel tank was my biggest gripe, you don't tend to pass many petrol stations and it needed premium fuel to reach it's claimed BHP.

But (and a big one at that) it put a massive smile on my face each and every time I drove it.
Enough grunt to worry the biggest tools in the flashest of motors though the gearing is a short and close for long high speed cruising, they do get a bit buzzy as speed.

Handled like it was in some cartoon. You really do run out of bravery rather than grip, they just never feel like giving up grip.

The mental styling grows on you and if you forget the back seats and boot, there's plenty of room for driver and passenger, just.

Everyone tends to love them, so much so they do get stolen a lot, which is what happened to mine unfortunately.
