Employer NI Contributions and State Pension contributions

Hi - If redundancy payments are received on termination, I understand the £30k is tax free. Above this, tax is payable but NI contributions are not. To ensure contributions are made towards your station pension, are NI payments made by the employer (who will need to pay), be credited towards the contribution, or does it only relate to those made by the employee.
