OP was your retailer a big box store like Argos or Curry’s? It is their tactic to get you to go the manufacturer as a first point of call; even though they know they are obligated to provide you with your consumer rights.

Don’t let the retailer off the hook. You should at least see what the retailer is going to say.

You say it’s not the retailers fault but they chose to sell you this faulty product…

I appreciate that not having a fridge/ freezer in the height of summer is a bit of a 1st world problem. Now I can accept that breakdowns can occur even with so called premium products. But this Bosch appliance is nearly new, and suffered multiple failures. So clearly there is a quality control issue with the manufacturer.
But the big issue for me is that Bosch have the opportunity to redeem themselves with excellent customer service. But instead they have choose to hide behind the minimum manufacturers warranty as required by law. They won’t even renew the warranty for the new appliance. Which I still don’t know when it will arrive. Clearly they don’t have much confidence in their product reliability.
I’m well aware that I could go back to the original retailer. But all that does is introduce a 3rd party, and allows for the creation of a blame game.
It was Bosch’s appliance that failed and they should put it right……..IMHO

There is no "minimum manufacturers warranty as required by law". There doesn't have to even be a manufacturers warranty"!

The retailer is not not a third party. They are the party with whom you have a legal contract.

A warranty from Bosch may give you some additional benefits, as laid down in its terms and conditions. Yes, you have a legal right to those benefits under the agreed terms but they are your only rights with Bosch.

Whatever you feel should happen "IMHO" is not the same as your rights under English law.

Third party?  Bosch is the third party here, not the retailer.

You're entitled to hold the opinion that Bosch should put things right, but that's not where your consumer rights sit.  It's your choice to continue to pursue Bosch, but you're probably making your life harder than necessary on a point of principle.  Best of luck with it.
