My duvet cove has reached the end of its useful life. I know if you buy a duvet cover you look at Tóg value but is there anything to look out for when buying a cover. It's for a double bed and I want a zip one

The only thing I look out for is has it got enough cotton that it won’t make me sweat and something that doesn’t need ironing. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Tog values apply to the duvet itself, not the cover.
Personally I prefer 100% cotton, but beyond that it's design/cost which are the important aspects.
I don't iron my covers, life is too short!0 -
We bought a pure cotton duvet set - complete with matching pillowslips - from Tesc0 last year. It wasn’t expensive, maybe £15! That was for a double.

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

Check the size, some duvets even tho double are bigger, although it's more of a problem if the duvet came from IKEA which often uses continental sizes.....0

I look at a) what material the duvet cover is made from - 100% cotton
b) the thread count
c) where it was made
I prefer 400-thread-count Egyptian-cotton percale - made in Portugal. But if I want a cheaper alternative I will buy 200 thread count.
I always iron my duvet cover, pillow cases and flat sheet. I love getting into clean, ironed, crisp bedding.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Unsure as to the durability of zips. Plastic poppers fail especially with ironing, I favour buttons.1

I like metal poppers, H&M duvet covers have those.0

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a zip one. We’ve recently bought a Christy 200 thread count cotton duvet cover, with buttons. It was in the sale but exactly the colour I wanted. I was given several sets of Christy bedding a few years ago and they’re very hard wearing.
I have bought higher thread count Egyptian cotton in the past but a) the cat can pull threads as the cotton is so flossy, and b) within two years, OH will be able to put a toe through them!Fashion on the Ration
