Maternity benefits

Hi,

i am a promoted teacher living in Scotland. Due to our household income JUAT being over the threshold, we don’t normally qualify for any child benefit etc. We don’t take the Childcare payment either as we would have to pay it all back. However, as I am on Maternity leave again (and child 1 still attending Nursery or i’ll lose her place) does anyone know if I qualify for any financial support- even for the short time i’ll be on Maternity Leave? Thanks. (based in Scotland).

You refer to 'we' and 'our'  Are there two earners in the household?

The higher income charge for child benefit applies to the higher earner. not on a joint income.

if you , or you have a partner , will earn over £60k  in 24/25 you will be affected.  It is a sliding scale up to £80k, when it is all lost.

Tax free childcare depends on your earnings and when you intend to return to work, if on Maternity leave

For the Scottish childcare payment you need to be in receipt of certain benefits
