Either use a card as suggested where contactless can be disabled or use phone pay where payments required authorisation like face unlock or fingerprint, the fears about contactless are massively overblown and yet the myths like people walking down the street stealing money from cards with a portable machine still abound.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair.
