EDF Warning. Ensure your Direct Debit is setup for new customers
On 2 June I maybe foolishly moved back to EDF, using their website to make the switch.
During the process, I gave my bank details for the DD to be setup
I received an email a few days later, which had unit rates which were not as expected.
I phoned them up on 10 June, and they could see the difference in pence per unit that I was complaining about.
After a while they guessed that the reason was that the direct debit had not been setup and I was being charged the rates for NON Direct Debit. They set the direct debit up (after I gave the bank details again) and the rates corrected themselves.
This happened on 2 accounts I setup, so unlikely a error on my part. More likely an error on their system being slow (or not) setting up direct debits even though bank details provided.
Fast forward to today, and they have charged me 4 days electric at non direct debit rates! Could have been much worse, so check direct debit setup with EDF.
Thankfully the Gas was slower to switch over, and I gave a date in the future for my other switch, so was able to avoid issues with those ones, more by luck and swift action!
