The full record you get by post also tells you the reported earnings, NI paid and the employer.

I forgot about the employer name, but beyond that it wasn't much use for me. If you read the original thread, people were getting details of contracted out payments and pension scheme memberships. I was hoping to receive something like that for my wife, who may possibly have had some pension entitlement from jobs early in her career, She doesn't even know whether she was a member of any schemes at that point.
