Horrified to be refused a new bank account and it only took 10 minutes. My credit score is poor because I have no mortgage, no debts and no bills. Experian even had my address wrong and said not on the electoral roll. Again wrong. tried to up the score and it dropped even lower because I had applied for a bank account. Said I had applied for credit - I didnt even want an overdraft. Nightmare. have written to the Co operative bank as this is the only means of contact sending copies of my bank printouts etc. anyone any good ideas how to sort this.

I have a credit card I use for travel etc and it is paid off in full each month. This also seems to drop my credit score.0

Your score is irrelevant, ignore it. What matters is your credit history, along with the raw data contained in your credit file. It's somewhat unusual for a basic bank account (i.e. no overdraft facility) to be declined purely due to lack of credit history (although, regular use and repayment of the credit card will have given you some credit history). It's likely to be the incorrect address and not showing as being registered on the ER that's the issue. You also need to check the other 2 CRAs, to make sure there's no negative or erroneous data recorded on them. It may be that your bank is looking at one of the others rather than Experian.1

You can access your TransUnion credit report through Money Saving Expert Credit Club, Credit Karma and Totally Money for free or some banks offer this too. You can access your Equifax credit report for free using ClearScore.0

Have to asked Experian to correct your credit record so that they have your correct address and record of you beeing on the Electoral Roll?
You should perhaps be looking to open a Basic bank account rather than a full service bank account. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
