Hi, we have an open UC claim. I claim the carers element, my partner was full time employed until last week. (His company is going bust, but he has not been officially told yet, he has been put on short term lay off) This month he has earnt £1250. is this enough for AET, with me unable to work as I am a carer.
Thanks in advance

There are two rates for the AET - the individual (single) rate and the couple rate.Even though you are a couple, his earnings will be assessed at the single rate when considering which work regime he should be in. As his earnings still exceed the single AET threshold of £892, he will be in the Light Touch regime which means he will not yet need to attend appointments. The AET threshold is not relevant to you if you are a carer, and as such are not required to look for work on UC. If you were not a carer and were required to look for work, then the couple AET rate would be relevant.Once your partner's earnings drop below £892 (the single AET threshold), then they would be required to attend appointments at the jobcentre to help them find another job.2
