easyJet app and printed boarding cards

Ive flown easyJet a few times now and although I have the app on my phone, I havent yet used the app for boarding cards which I print on paper.

My question is this - ive checked in online on the laptop for a flight in August, added passport details etc and printed boarding cards on my printer - all OK
If I go to the app on my phone, it offers 'check-in boarding passes' for my flight and seems to start going through the check in process again asking for passport details etc.

Does anyone know if I go through this process on the app then will it supersede/replace my existing printed boarding cards?

Im happy with paper still but thought if it doubled up on the phone then that was a fall back option.

Its fine to have both, no idea why the app does not sync the check in status with the webpage.  But both are valid.  Tested by us!  My wife prefers paper and I go paperless.

I have noticed that in the past.
I have always worked on the assumption that it is basically syncing the boarding cards with the app.
