That's (comparatively ) good news.I have finally given the meter reading resulting in my account being 3000 in debit now.
Now - how to pay it off ? I think you moving flat in the near future will limit your options.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
You are letting the suppliers off too easily with that get out. I ve done thousands of " must inspects and must reads " and the inspection is necessary and needed if that meter has not had a safety check in four years and that's what OFGEM mean by Standard Licence Conditions (SLC ) .It's up to the suppliers to try harder which they obviously have not done allowing it to rack up all of these estimated reads .BarelySentientAI said:
Not any more - that specific requirement was removed several years ago.SAC2334 said:The suppliers have an obligation to get to the meter and do a safety check on the meter and they are every bit as lax as the occupier .Smart meters can go for years without inspections but dumb meters should be accessed at least every year
Now it is much more handwavy and there are not specific timescales - terms like 'as necessary' and 'as appropriate' predominate.
I hope the occupier takes notice of this and makes the suppliers pay for their negligence.
UK suppliers are terrible at this and this is why we have hundreds of thousands of cannabis farms not allowing access for years. That would not happen in most EU countries or USA without being cut off supply0 -
I'm not letting the suppliers off. I'm quoting the results of a series of linked court cases that I was involved with (and still am, so I can't say too much) where the judgements so far have included interpretation of the licence conditions, ESQCR, the Distribution Code, and the Electricity Act amongst other things. The scope of these cases have involved both gas and electricity meters, cut out fuses and service head assemblies, and the final supply cables and link boxes.SAC2334 said:
