Renting a van isn't cheap, but the owners' son has implied that he has a way of moving the stuff. Maybe everyone would benefit if he brought it somewhere of your choice rather than the tip?

What's the stuff? Furniture? Clothes? Expensive hi-fi gear? 15 years of back issues of Pigeon Fancier Monthly? You say you need others to help - so is it a lot of stuff or things you can't carry alone?
You might need to decide which costs more - getting it and finding somewhere to store it (I'm guessing you don't have space where you currently are) or abandoning it and replacing at a later stage.I need to think of something new here...0 -
