Exact Cash Withdrawal at Post Office

Probably obvious to many but had never occurred to me before. But at a post office you can withdraw an exact amount from the counter. Whereas at any cash point in said post office, depending on set up you can only with draw in denominations of £5 or £10. Handy for change for things like paying the window cleaner and saves a trip into town when the banks are open.

Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I often do it - need £4 to pay for a U3a session, but take out £4.36 because it sets my balance to a complete £ (or 2). U3a is the ONLY thing I now have to pay for in cash. Hopefully they will catch up soon! My window cleaner gets paid online.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

There will always be a consideration of how much your personal time is worth. The mother-in-law spends a whole day doing the weekly shop as she tours the supermarkets to find the best price for each item then goes back to each of them to buy the items cheapest there, she says she saves $20 a week. Personally for $20 I'd rather a 1hr delivery slot and have my weekend free from visiting supermarkets.0 -
Reminds me of my grandfather, who'd drive around for hours looking for the cheapest petrol...0
