How do claims against Amazon ARC work?

Hi

An Amazon delivery driver reversed into the side of my wife's car while it was parked (I am a named driver and was the driver at the time as I was visiting family).

We did get CCTV of the incident but can't make out the reg and we did also get the tracking number of the item that was delivered to a neighbour. These were passed on to Amazon.

ARC are handling the claim on behalf of Amazon. They have said once investigation is over, they can pay me in Amazon vouchers or money directly into my account.

As my wife's insurers haven't been notified/involved yet, will this claim be passed on to CUE? Will it affect either of our premiums/NCBs?

Amazon have asked me to get 2 estimates if damage is estimated over £1,000 from the first estimate. Vertu is the company that I used for the first estimate and they stated £2,000 for repair.

They also have a team who would handle it all from my side if I wish to proceed with them. When I asked Vertu the question about if I need to state on renewal if I have made any claims, they said that I could answer "no" to that question.

Has anyone else had experience dealing with Amazon ARC claims?

Or any advice at all would be helpful.

Thanks

That's only true if you're willing to commit fraud, and/or risk having your policy cancelled which will bring a lifetime of grief.

You are contractually obliged to inform your insurer, whether or not you're claiming from them. Read your policy: they probably need to know now rather than at renewal.

Why are you breaching your wife's policy by not notifying them of the incident?

Was it an Amazon owned vehicle or an Amazon Flex vehicle? Flex are obviously self employed people with their own insurance and will certainly be ultimately paid out by the insurer. Most UK Motor insurers report to CUE but not all do. No one here will know much about Amazon's insurance arrangements for their owned vehicles, could be a captive, could be fronted to a captive, could be a standard policy with a side agreement for a large aggregate excess. The insurer may or may not be involved in claims management or there may be tiers depending on claim value. As no one here is likely to know or be willing to divulge the structure is even less likely of knowing if it goes to CUE or not.

Guessing you are hoping to "forget" to mention it to your insurers if it doesn't go to CUE?

As no claim is being made on your policy(s) then the NCD won't be impacted. You will be legally obliged to mention the incident given you say you were driving on all policies on which you are named, failure to do so is fraud.

What it will do to premiums will depend on your insurers and your general risk profile. Some insurers will not load for a single non-fault claim, some will load a little and some will load a lot if you were already a bad risk.
