Car insurance start times?

Hey, Sorry if this has been asked before.
Are the actual times stated on the start/finish date of a car insurance policy legally binding?
I have just taken out insurance policy with the Pru online to start on 12/02/08 (via Quidco for the cashback
) but the confirmation says policy starts 17.00 on 12/02/08 and expires 12.00 on 12/02/09. (I purchased the policy at 17.00 today).
Surely it should start at 00.01 on 12/02/08 and expire at midnight on 11/02/09?
Any advice? I will look over the paperwork when it comes next week and then contact the Pru to be sure but just wanted to know if anyone could shed some light.
Thanks in advance

Not necessarily. It can start when ever you want it to.
I've asked for insurance to start at 5pm before because i was going to get a new car after work.
I would suggest though that if the policy start date is 12/2/08 at 17:00 then the finish time should be 12/2/9 at 16:59 assuming you bought a full year's cover of course.
And i would have thought the start and finish times are binding in the event of a claim eg the policy starts at 17:00 so if you claim at 16:00 then you've no chance because the policy wasn't in place at the time of the incident.
Since the policy is due to start in Feb if you're concerned about the start and finish times you'll need to talk to them.
