ATM transaction dispute abroad

I have recently been away in Vietnam for several weeks. I withdrew money from ATMs several times successfully. However, one time it has debited two identical transactions for the same amount at the same time incorrectly. I have tried disputing this with Nationwide however they say they can't dispute it as it was "not a Visa debit transaction".
How can I get my money back without having to deal with a Vietnamese bank?

Raise a complaint with Nationwide, looking at the FOS decisions there are plenty of cases on duplicated overseas transactions and in DRN2706651 for example the bank (coincidently also Nationwide) was disputing the claim because they only have 13 months to raise an issue with an overseas ATM operator but the customer had taken several years to spot the duplicates.0

I fail to see how it is not a visa debit transaction... Unless your card is a Mastercard.miraclemeet said:I have recently been away in Vietnam for several weeks. As above complain. Wonder if the front line call center did not understand the query.. As ATM transactions can be disputed.
Would be a simple matter for dispute team to check, as transactions are timestamped.
Although I would ask, did you have any issues getting cash out for that debit?Life in the slow lane0
