Need electric plan ASAP

Hello
I need to get myself signed up with an electric company for the property I am at ASAP

1. I like to pay my bills cash at the post office
2. And I like to pay for what I have used based upon my meter readings. As I dont use a lot and I dont want to be charged by as an estimated bill where the bill is fixed ever month or so

Thanks

If you are already there and using power there must be an incumbent supplier who you already have a deemed contract with.

Have contacted them and opened an account?

Until you do so and find out their billing options then you cannot move away.

I am presuming you are a domestic customer.

I do not know who is the current supplier. Money supermarket gave me lot of suppliers with rates and options that i could take a contract out with, so how dose that one work?

You need to find out your current supplier before you do anything.

Make sure you have your opening meter readings and meter number to hand when you call the current supplier.

Hi, you might find that a smart prepayment meter is the way to go. Very easy to stay in control that way and you always know exactly where you stand. I think there still a PayPoint option for topping up which means you can pay cash at the Post Office or other shops as well. Prepayment used to be something that was mainly used by people with credit problems and you were charged a premium. That has all changed in recent years, with smart prepayment often being the cheapest option and chosen by an increasing number of people for that reason.

(Could someone with recent experience confirm that PayPoint is still available for topping up?)

Since you want your bills to be based on actual readings you may have to read the electricity meter yourself and give those readings to your electricity supplier once a month.  Or you may have a "smart meter" which your supplier can read remotely.

And you may have to pay a bit more for your electricity to pay in cash, compared to those who pay by direct debit.
