Don't you have a solicitor acting for you in the sale? This shouldn't be new territory for them.

Shouldn't be a problem. Are you using a solicitor for conveyancing? They ask how much is owed (nothing). The answer comes back. The entry drops off when the sale completes.

  • I do have a solicitor who has been chasing this for a couple of weeks now and she has had no luck so I think she will speak to land registry but I don’t know what else to do as I don’t have any proof that this loan was closed in 2016and they no longer exist

The problem is that the lender no longer exists. Other lenders took over ongoing accounts, but if the OP's account was already closed, then there is (I think) no lender around who can confirm the account was closed and has the right to discharge the security.

There are ways round it but might mean something like the Treasury Solicitor or the courts being involved.
  • I’m hoping my solicitor will sort this asap as we are waiting to complete the sale of our house that’s why I was hoping for an answer to fix this asap
