In that case - could you send a redacted (notarised if need be by solicitor) copy excluding the financial data ?Chris_b2z said:[Deleted User] said:What is it specifically that's on the completion statement that you want to keep private? I'm struggling to think of anything that is particularly sensitive or personal, or why this is an issue? Octopus will be obliged to treat it securely and like most big organisations will take data protection seriously.No-one is suggesting that this document contains sensitive personal data. The completion statement provides a financial summary of all charges incurred in the process of selling the house. I can understand the taxman requesting to see it but why would I want to share that with an energy supplier?

Coming back to my question, what's the issue with just providing the statement as requested, given that it doesn't appear to have anything personal or sensitive? I've been providing copies of bank statements, recent utility bills and the like for years without giving it a thought, and your completion statement won't show anything more sensitive...0

I got confused as well as to whose thread this was!Another avenue to explore, if it is a smart meter, is whether Octopus would be willing to remotely disconnect the supply without charging you a fee until the new owner makes themselves known. Or you could just contact the new owner if you are able.0
