Linton's 33% figure seems consistent with BCG's report. I would be very surprised if most of BCG's 37% weren't also fund mergers and takeovers.

I've moved funds because of changing employers, but I've owned 3 of my current 4 funds since I started investing seriously in the 1990s. I like well tested boring stuff.

VTSAX (US Equity Index) started 1992
VTIAX (International ex US Equity Index) started 2010
    VWINX (Wellesley multi-asset) started 1970
    TIAA Traditional (annuity) started 1918
And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Half of that figure comes from Standard Life.  I guessed the current abrdn funds were the same as old Aberdeen funds and the Standard Life funds were merged in to the equivalent Aberdeen funds but its impossible to untangle precisely what happened to each fund.
