Am I the consignor?

Bit of an error from Amazon. I ordered trainers from the UK website, but they were actually sent to me by Amazon US. But, they sent the wrong size. It seems damn silly to send the wrong size halfway around the world, doesn’t it? 

So, I now have the task of returning them.  I have packaged them up, and affixed the address label and a customs declaration. Then I need to take them to the local newsagent for return to the us by UPS. 

So, do I need to sign the customs declaration as if I am the sender of the goods?

Yes. I've done exact that recently with trainers on Amazon and the refund was processed before they had left the uk

Keep in mind it was more than one copy of the declaration to attach - I think it was 3? When I first went to ups thet didnt accept it as I only attached one

Well, the newsagents have accepted the package, with just one copy of the customs declaration. And, Amazon say:

Refunded

Your return is in transit. Your refund has been issued.

I'm still miffed that Amazon is claiming that I am the shipper, whereas it is actually them, and I only packed it for them.

You are the shipper for customs purposes. 
Ie, you could put illegal guns or drugs in the parcel. 
So it's your name as consignor.
