for a shed base that looks to be a better than necessary outcome achieved with a soft brush finish to avoid the risk of slips when walking on it in the wet
if you wanted a smooth (higher slip risk) finish then you should have specified that it be a floated finish and, as others say, that would have increased the cost by a fair bit due to either the time needed to manually float or the cost of hiring a power float1 -
If you are wanting to improve the appearance of the area you could put in some edging and cover with gravel and sit the planters on that.1
