Hi,

My iPhone XR is not holding charge, goes flat even when not in use.
Battery reports it has 86% life remaining.
I charged to 100% and overnight the battery charge fell to 10%.
I have turned off auto updates et al and tried to find any apps might be draining it.

Any suggestions?

    Faulty battery

Feasible to change yourself but probably easier to find a local shop to do it

If still in warranty then book the genius bar at your nearest apple store

Unlikely, the last "new" XR that Apple sold (64 & 128GB model) was discontinued almost 3 years ago.

Time for a new battery as suggested.

I changed one on a previous iPhone.

Currently replacement battery from popular auction site less than £12  Apple will charge £85 but a local place will probably do it for a lot less.

Thanks for your comments. I found YouTube video for replacement. Think I will go to a phone shop.

I gave up on iPhones years ago as you only had to look at the screen a bit hard and it would shatter ( I used to fix phone screens)

Now safely dropping my android phone without issues

I couldn't tell you what the latest version is

Wife had been happily breaking iPhone, Samsung and Google phone screens for many years, even with screen protectors on them. Problem of being tiny but wanting a giant screen phone probably.

Have to say that her last two phones (iPhone 13 & 15 Pro) are the only ones that the screens are still in perfect condition even without a screen protector. Based on the state of the cases, dropping them is no less regular

Have you looked at ‘battery usage’ to see what was using it all overnight?
