Good morning, it's another grey start here, but warm. Yesterday was a lovely day, we could do with a few weeks of it, but I doubt that we'll get it.
I'm was just reading through yesterday's posts, talk of old parents who won't spend money brought back memories of my own and dh's parents, who were the same. I suppose it was because they had lived through hard times.
Sorry to hear about your bites Gers, though I know that the West coast of Scotland is famous for its midges. Hope they'll soon stop itching.
Snoozer, Esben is starting school in September! How the time slips away, doesn't seem 5 minutes since he was born.
Not a lot going on today, just "stuff" as my dd calls it, general household jobs. That cardigan I ordered from M&S should be ready to pick up today as well.
Hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of those who are going into hospital, recovering from jetlag, and midge bites, everyone who needs it in fact.
Take care folks.

Morning allPhew, summer arrived yesterday and it was a scorcherShopping delivery arriving in an hour or so. I'm an early bird not a night owl so hope I can stay awake as I'm going to a surprise 40th birthday party tonight! It's one of my son's friends and his mum and I worked at our son's primary school as lunchtime supervisors and apparently some of his old school friends have been tracked down and will be coming so it'll be interesting to see if I can remember/recognise any of them!Hope everyone has a good day x9

Morning all, thanks for starting us off @Scarlet - more bites appearing. They were lying in wait in the wett'ish grass, a favourite haunt for them. The topical cream is helping as is the AH. I hope your cardigan is right for you.I'm another one very surprised about Esben starting school already, mind you it's the same with DP1 and Camelot's littlies too. And then there's TA's teenagers too. 😱
Yesterday again turned from wet and miserable to dry and sunny, perhaps it'll happen today too. I have to do a little shopping, not much but the fridge is almost empty. I'm heavily resisting going down to Glasgow as I don't need the lovely red shopping bag from Waitrose. My heart really wants it but I'm not going. 😀
@AA- how's your OH after his op? Not in too much pain I hope?

Hi all
Hope you survived the warm day for those that had it. I was in AC rooms and car most of the afternoon so not too bad. Thanks Gers - it’s DF that had the new knee, he didn’t go down until 6pm ish so a long (and hungry!) day. He rang about 830pm and was still woozy but said he was ok, and I’d previously spoken to the consultant who was happy that everything went to plan. His hard work of physio will start now. I’ll take DM to visit this afternoon. She was due her regular cancer treatment today but had a phone call to say some blood levels weren’t ’right’ so a scan will be brought forward; just something else for me to fret about.Outside of medical issues I’m slowly chipping away at my four-part/lengthy summer to do list, and I managed some craft work. Unsurprisingly I slept very well, was shattered!
Today is grey and will be damp later which at least saves watering the garden!Have a good day all. Thank you to those who have been part of these threads for years, for welcoming newbies - it means a lot!

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, glad you have some good weather.
It's overcast here but not raining at the moment. Yesterday was mainly dry, the washing all but dried outside - just 30 minutes in the TD to finish it off. We are definitely missing the sunshine here.
It's the open day at the allotment today so I've done some baking and will go along to help serve teas and coffees - someone else can do the burgers as I can't stand the smell! Hoping it stays dry.
Sorry you got Covid whilst you were away Allie, hope you've recovered now.
Hope your DDad realises he has to spend some pennies to make his life easier Nanny, you're a saint.
Do you really need that shopping bag Gers? Seems a long way to go. Midgie bites are the worst (apart from Clegg bites), the itching is truly awful.
Enjoy your party Chrisca.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX9 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Most unusual for me but I actually slept longer this morning. I wish I could say I felt better for it but I don't. I feel washed out and lifeless. I won't be catching the early bus into town this morning as I can't seem to get going. Maybe later.
Yesterday was a scorcher and we got the forecast 26 deg and hot sun all day. Downhill today, it's still warm but thunderstorms are likely later.
Now, drum roll please, and I expect a round of applause for my endeavours! Since the new year I have been determined to get my hoarded freezer stocks down.. Well yesterday I finally managed to get everything condensed into one freezer! It's rammed, so that's still work in progress but I feel quite pleased with myself. I defrosted the smaller freezer and it's now ready to be passed on to someone in need!
I agree it's frightening how quickly our small people grow up. It doesn't seem two minutes since I was minding 3 under 4's. The two younger ones so close in age that both of them were in nappies at the same time! I certainly couldn't do it these days. ! Now they will be 20, 16 and 14 at their upcoming birthdays!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly relatives. Take care all xx

Morning everyone it’s warm but dull at the minute it was red hot yesterday to much for the little dog . AA nice to hear your DF has had his new knee my hubby has had two in 3 years it’s painful at first but he always says it was better than the pain he had before and he had his first game of golf yesterday. All this talk about parents who won’t spend money I think they were all the same it was the hard times they lived through my friend who lives in Gretna her mam could never resist a jumble sale and they once were on holiday with her in Devon on the day they were coming home she went to a jumble sale were she brought a coat when they got home she found the keys to a BMW in the pockets she had picked up one of the helpers coats they had to phone the police in Devon and post them down as they were back home the other end of the country. Also all these children growing up so fast I remember my daughter ringing me at work to tell me how her first appointment had gone at the hospital she had a little girl 4 and she rang and said she was having triplets I couldn’t believe it but neither could she they have now left school and one of them is joining the army soon it doesn’t seem two minutes since that phone call and I was the only one that could tell them apart mind you I am turning into my parents because I go through all the names before I get to the right one . TA be careful what you say or you will be made to come here and sort my freezer out it’s an impossible task . I won’t be doing a lot today I’ve hardly slept I don’t know why I got up in the end and went to bed at 4 and still struggled never mind it will be an early night. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Well done TA!! I had a clear out the other week and threw away stuff that had been hiding at the back for at at least over a year.

Morning everyone
I had a lovely lie in this morning and am planning on having a very lazy day. I'm now on holiday for 6 weeks, so ready for it, we seem to have had a lot going on this half term. My boss retired yesterday, I've worked with her for almost 20 years.
Eldest DD has gone to Lithuania for the weekend...why you all ask...well because she's never been there and it looks pretty! Luckily her plane was only an hour late leaving last night. She counted up and she's now been to 27 countries in her 27 years - she wants to hit 30 by the time she's 30....I don't think she's going to have a problem!
Little one's steroids worked quickly and she was back at school yesterday for her last day...she sang loudly at leaver's assembly! She stays with the same teacher in September though her class will be bigger as it is going to consist of 3 year groups. Her teacher is getting married in the holidays, little one explained in great detail to me that she will have a different name 'because you know what granny when a lady gets married she has to have the same name as the man, isn't that weird!'
I totally agree with you all that little ones seem to grow up so quickly - Izzy it must have been hard work looking after triplets! Years ago we had identical twin boys at nursery we couldn't tell apart, so their mum stitched their initial letters on their clothes.
It was a lovely day here yesterday and I sat outside all afternoon after work. It's still warm but cloudy and forecast to rain later, hopefully it won't bother.
Better move, hope everyone has a good day x
