Forum for the easily offended?

I was thinking more about this type of scenario:
OP - I have XYZ problem.
forum - the law disagrees with you.
OP - stop bullying me.
Yes I acknowledge that can be a bit of a pile on sometimes you don’t need 10 people repeatedly telling you you’re wrong when it’s already been semi tactfully pointed out.
But on the other hand, there is an increasing number of people on here the minute anyone disagrees with them however politely start screaming abuse, trolling, bullying and Lord knows what else. Particularly those who post CAPITAL LETTERS that something is A SCAM, and really don’t want to hear otherwise. You can be as polite as you like, some people still seem to go out the way to want to be offended. That’s the group I’m talking about. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
But if multiple people are telling an OP the same thing...then maybe they'll eventually believe.
One or two replies are easier to dismiss, if you don't agree.
So it's not just a "pile on", but collective wisdom?! 😉How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Or when they say "I'm not after an answer about X, but just about Y"
When X and Y issues are interconnected and may be very relevant.
"I asked you NOT to comment about X, please can you just answer the question about Y"
IME, Sometimes though X is too personal, as the forum do love details, and it is hard to try and only get an answer to one point, without having to give your life story.

E.g. "Retailer has told me that they're unwilling to do business with me and is cancelling my outstanding orders and refunding me. Is this legal? How can I force them provide the products I fairly purchased?"
"Why is the retailer doing that? What happened??"
"I came here for answers not questions, what is the legal position please?"

Or the threads where you have to pull teeth to get enough detail to even offer basic advice.
"Our energy bill is really high, what can we do reduce it?"
"What is your situation - how many people live in the house, how big is your house, what appliances do you use, how do you heat your home, what is your usage?"
"A lot"
Know what you don't2 -
Some of the energy threads are the worst (best
) for misunderstandings being taken out of proportion.
A handful of genuine cases of mis-charging, faulty meters and inaccurate billing, surrounded by a sea of confusion, and shouts of SCAM.
Your Direct Debit is not your Bill.
Your IHD is not your Smart Meter.
Repeat 100 times. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -
Agreed energy threads seem to end up being dragged into a stance that closes the thread. Maybe if they gave the OP a locked topic option or editing options removing/delete the original intention could be more informative and helpful than heated. Oh well Que sera, sera.0

I feel sorry for MP's whose mail bags are increasingly full of emails where people are complaining about being wronged though it was their own actions that created the issue.0
